GULFPORT, Mississippi -- Texas fugitive Steven Ray Milam, also known as the "Handsome Guy Bandit," was turned over to federal authorities on Thursday, after making an appearance here in U.S. District Court. Milam, 44, of Tyler, Texas, was charged on 11 counts of federal bank robbery and was the denied bail by a federal judge. Each bank robbery charge carries a penalty of up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
On January 5th a new Dallas Police Department policy was put into place where they no longer respond to retailer’s calls for shoplifting under $50. There are some exceptions, however. If the thief has an existing warrant out for their arrest, they will respond, but only act on the outstand warrant. If the retailer wants to trespass the thief from their property, the police will respond, but will only issue a trespass notice.
